NCCAA works with partners to apply comprehensive strategies to eliminate the causes of poverty for people of Nueces County.
Nueces County Community Action Agency changes peoples lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
The Nueces County Community Action Agency is a non-profit organization serving residents in our community in an effort to reduce or eliminate poverty through a comprehensive approach. We focus on multiple needs through a wide-range approach. We are fortunate to have partnerships with many community organizations, businesses and school districts.
Our Agency prides itself by operating under the direction of a tripartite board which includes representatives of public officials, representatives of organizations and representatives of the low-income community. We include our Policy Council members, which are comprised of parents of the Birth-to-Five Head Start program, to be a part of the Agency’s decision making process.
The Board of Directors, Policy Council Members, staff and community partners strive to eliminate the causes of poverty and to help each family transition out of poverty. It is our goal to serve family, community and agency by adhering to our mission. To that end, we will be relentless in our efforts to fulfill the “Promise of Community Action!”

Leave & Holidays
As an employee of NCCAA, you will receive twelve (12) paid holidays per year. In addition, you will accumulate personal and sick leave monthly.
Health Coverage
Employees of NCCAA are eligible to participate in the agency’s medical plan. All employees must enroll in the plan or waive coverage. Coverage takes Additionally, there is an annual Open Enrollment period every November for coverage effective the following January 1.
Dental/Vision Care
Employees have the option to elect dental and/or vision coverage for themselves and dependents at competitive rates and coverage levels.
Life Insurance/ Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
NCCAA offers its employees a life policy for $10,000. Additional coverage may be elected during the first ninety (90) days of employment.
Cafeteria Plan
The Revenue act of 1978 created Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code that allows employees to pay for fringe benefits with untaxed dollars, such as medical, life, cancer, and disability insurance.
Retirement/Pension Plan
The Agency provides an employee retirement pension plan at no cost to the employee. An employee is eligible for the plan the month preceding their first year of employment.
